Goodbye to SSInk Design Team

Hi Stampers!

As my readers know, I've been a member of the Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration Design Team for a couple of years now. I have made the decision to withdraw from the team for now and focus on growing my stamping and beading business. I've had a difficult time trying to balance all of my creative wants and trying to create for the design team, my customers, and on a personal level, has stolen my creative mojo. If I have no creative mojo, then I won't make things and then my blog(s) will be pointless. I don't want to have pointless blogs.

As I recoup and figure out how I want to move forward from here I have set some goals. The following are things I want to achieve in the coming months:

I want:

~ to be more consistent with my blog posts
~ to try new (to me) and different techniques
~ to share the occasional non-stamping project with you. Stamping is not my whole creative life, I also sew, crochet, and bake. I also do beadwork but have a separate blog for that  (poor neglected blog hasn't seen any love from me in a long long long time)
~ to share more of who I am on a personal level

I'm going to spend the rest of this week reflecting and hopefully trying some new things in order to have more to share with you in the following weeks.

I'll be back soon. Have a wonderful creative week!

Don't forget to go over to SSInk and meet the new design team members!

Shellie :)

Awash with Washi

Hello Stampers!
My post today is about washi tape. It took me a long time to warm up to washi tape but I have discovered that it's quite a delight to play with. You can do SO MUCH with it :D

This is a coordinating suite of washi tape altered office supplies using Stampin Up!'s brand new Cherry on Top Designer Washi tape collection. There are 5 coordinating rolls of washi in this set.

The clipboard started out in your typical craft paper brown so I gesso-ed the front of the clipboard and allowed to dry. I then applied strips of washi tape in a repetitive sequence, covering the entire board.

I then flipped it over and applied some dsp from the Cherry on Top 6x6"  DSP Stack (i used decoupage medium to apply the dsp). I then covered the seam with matching washi and then used contrasting washi tape around the edges (it's all one piece) I burnished the washi along the edges REALLY well. I think it should hold up for a long time.

Now, everybody needs thank you cards so I made a set of them with washi tape as the decoration. I used 4 different stamps from the Another Thanks photopolymer stamp set.

I hope you feel inspired by my projects today.

Please stop by the SSink design Team Blog (click on the header at the top)  to see what some of the other design team members made with washi tape.

Happy Stampin'

Mother's Day Inkspiration

Hi All!
I'm visiting my daughter for a couple of weeks. She lives a few hours away from me and I don't get to see her nearly enough so I thought I'd come hang out with her for a couple of weeks. Not sure what we are doing for Mother's Day but we could eat the weeds in the backyard for all I care. I'm just happy to be spending it with her. The kids at home will have to celebrate without me this year.
Mother's Day is just a few days away and if you haven't yet made your mom or mother figure a card now is the time to do it. :)

You can find more last minute Mother's Day card inspiration over on some of the other design team members have made some great cards.
